Food Inc.

*Don't forget to enter my photography contest! You could win two pairs of earrings! Hurry, it ends tomorrow at midnight!*

This semester I have a Foods and Nutrition course. Today we finished watching a movie called Food Inc. I don't want to give away too much in case you end up seeing it, but it really made me think twice about the food I eat. It also made me think about what the food industry has become.

These days, with the use of engineering and technology, we have the power to control what we eat to the point where it's not very healthy. And I don't like it. I don't like the fact that more and more farms are turning into factories. I don't like that some chickens live in complete darkness up to the day they're killed. I don't like it at all.

I'm not a vegetarian, or a vegan. But for those of you who are, way to go! You guys are awesome because I don't think I could do that! I like eating meat, especially bacon. But after watching this movie, I think I'm going to try to keep meat to a minimum.

This movie is really good because it reveals the truth about the food industry and the secrets they're trying to hide. But I'm not saying you have to go watch it. It does include some sad parts of how the animals are killed. But I am glad that I did.

Have you seen this movie?
Do you eat meat? Why or why not?

  1. I watched that, and it was pretty disturbing. I hate the thought of all those abused animals too. It just makes me so mad. :( I still eat meat though, partly because I love it.

I'm glad that I watched it though. I do not like being in the dark about things like that.

  2. I loved this Film! After watching it, my family, too, cut back on our meat consumption.

You might also enjoy watching "Forks over Knives."

  3. I still eat meat. I like it, even if I don't like what the people do to the animals. Its a little hard not to eat meat at my family since, my dad is a big meat person. :-)

  4. My aunt became a vegan because of this film. I still love meat though, plus I ahve very low iron. So I need it.

  5. If animals are killed in this film, I'll be cowering under a table in shock, since I love animals. Also, I just can't help it but I like meat, especially if it's in yorkshire pudding and if it's chicken burgers. Forgive me my little cute friends, I will try to stop having major chunks of meat. :o -(I'm sorry!!!!!!!)

  6. I haven't seen Food, Inc.--but it is horrible the way some animals are treated. I still eat meat, however.

  7. I hope to some day be self sustainable, to the point where I no longer support industries like this. I just want to go back to the simpler days...
